HISTORY OF THE INSTITUTION
The history of a panchayat refers to the administrative, social, and developmental journey of a village panchayat since its formation.
Panchayats in Kerala have their roots in the ancient Gram Sabha system. After independence, various laws were enacted to strengthen local self-government institutions. With the enactment of the Kerala Panchayati Raj Act, 1994, the Panchayats were given more powers and responsibilities.
