OMBUDSMAN FOR LSGIs

A high-level mechanism for lodging complaints against corruption, irregularities, and abuse of power against public representatives or officials. It is headed by a person with the rank of a High Court judge.

Court system for appealing against decisions taken by the Panchayat Administrative Committee or Secretary, denial of licenses, cancellation of construction permits, etc. Headquarters: Thiruvananthapuram.

Complaints can be made directly to Vigilance against possible bribery, large-scale financial irregularities, and misappropriation of government funds in offices.

Hierarchy of complaints

Follow the steps below in order to resolve complaints quickly.

📌 First stage: Panchayat levelPanchayat Level

Complaint should be filed with: Panchayat Secretary / President / Grievance Redressal Committee

For local disputes and delays in applications, first complain directly to them and seek a solution.

📌 Second stage: District levelDistrict Level

Complaint should be filed with: Joint Director / Deputy Director (LSGD)

Only if a proper solution is not found at the panchayat level, submit the complaint to the Joint Director or Deputy Director, who is the district head.

📌 Third stage: Legal levelStatutory / Legal Level

Complaint to: Ombudsman/Tribunal

These legal bodies can be approached if officials intentionally violate the law, engage in corruption, or deny due services.
